Shortly following the Winter Solstice which heralded a celebration of the natal day of a certain Kiltboy, his Leatherness started to sulk. The whining increased exponentially with every day. Even the Krismas presents couldn't assuage him. Finally he demanded we come up with a suitable birthday for him. So we set to work. I felt the first step would be to at least narrow down his astrological sign. This would at least give us a starting point as the only thing I could get out of him was "not an ugly month" "you pick it" and that it be compatible with Libra. He knows I'm a Libra. So one night we set to work. Being the affable, easy-to-please, jollial companion that he is we set to work with enthusiasm. No, he didn't want a goat. Was there a horse sign? And I felt it wouldn't be good to have his birthday too close to a certain Scotsman's. No, he didn't like fish, was there a sign for chicken? Virgin? You must be joking. He finally defined what an "ugly" month was. August was an "ugly " month. Sounded like a cat with a hairball. He also didn't like March as he would rather ride. Gemini? His face froze when I explained the twin thing. I could see his eyes glaze over, recalling that little evil-Ahriman-demon-doppleganger-thing at the abandoned submarine base in France. I put "Mr. Mom" in the VCR and he was back a bit later. We explored the wonderful Love Connection link that Tuna Troll found for us. He found that the sign most compatible with Libra (aside from that unmentionable one) is Aquarius. In the mean time we Forumlanders had determined without a shadow of a doubt that he was a Scorpio. I suspect he was also born in the year of the Dragon (compatible with 'rats' and 'monkeys') even though the Chinese Zodiac had not yet been created.

Hey Godiva--the K-man is a Scorpio

Determined and forceful, emotional and intuitive, powerful and passionate, exciting and magnetic, jealous and resentful, compulsive and obsessive, secretive and obstinate, intensely passionate, jealous and...the body area is the, er ,genitals. Sound like anyone you know?

I think a half-year party is definitely an option. More and long.

I went to the site Tuna found. I think he's definitely a Scorpio. Here's an edited version. It does sound like him.

Scorpio October 23 - November 21 Scorpio is the Sign of Sex and Death, the beginning and ending of things. As the eighth Sign, Scorpio also rules the eighth House: the House of Sex.The Astrological Symbol of Scorpio is the Scorpion. Like the mythical Scorpion, people born under this Sign tend to be strong-willed and wary of being controlled by others. At times they can be self-destructive, like the Scorpion who kills itself rather than letting someone else kill it. They are very determined, and once they've made up their minds they are unlikely to change them. They tend to be stubborn, refusing to give up when others have long since gotten bored and abandoned a project, and getting things done when no one else thought it possible. They are one of the Power Signs (the others being Taurus, Leo and Aquarius). Scorpios tend to have their own agenda, and work intensely to achieve their desires. People who wish to change a Scorpio's mind often have trouble because they can never be sure what their motivation is; Scorpios are too complex and sometimes secretive to be understood easily. Scorpio is ruled by the Planets Mars and Pluto. In ancient Roman mythology, Mars (and his Greek equivalent, Ares) was the God of War, and ancient astrologers assigned both Aries and Scorpio to this Planet. Pluto (and his Greek equivalent, Hades) was the God of the Underworld, and when the Planet Pluto was discovered early in the 20th Century astrologers assigned Scorpio to this Planet. Under Mars' influence, Scorpio is the behind-the-scenes tactician while Aries is on the front lines. Scorpio's modern ruler, Pluto, represents Death and Endings; it's the Sign of rebirth and regeneration. When the Scorpion loses its tail, it regenerates a new stinger, and Scorpios can be reborn the same way after they suffer losses. In addition, Pluto is a strong Planet. It teaches a valuable lesson: while Scorpio has a tendency to be possessive, Pluto pulls things away. The Element associated with Scorpio is Water. Water Signs are emotional:they tend to respond to the world through emotion, rather than physical action, practicality, or intellect. Scorpio's motto could be "still water runs deep." They may repress their emotions, but underneath they are lusty and perceptive. They may be vengeful or vindictive and unable to get past personal slights.

The myth of the Phoenix is strongly associated with the Sign of Scorpio. The Phoenix is regenerated from the ashes of its death, and it rises into the sky, reborn. The most highly evolved Scorpios aspire to be the Phoenix, rising above the ordinary world and into something extraordinary. Suspicion and jealousy can pull them down, but passion and awareness can help them rise above this.In their leisure time, Scorpios enjoy competition and challenge. They aren't satisfied with moving along at half speed or lowering their abilities to allow people with lesser skills to beat them. They enjoy difficult pursuits that challenge them to excel, and they refuse to settle for being anything less than the best. In love relationships, Scorpio is caring, devoted, and possessive. Scorpio rules the reproductive organs. Scorpio's colors are powerful and strident, like Scorpions: black and red. The great strength of the Scorpio-born is in their determination to see things through to the end. They refuse to allow boredom to turn them away from projects, and they are committed to accomplishing what they set out to do.Their passion and strength makes them one of the most powerful characters of the Zodiac.

So, I show this to the old End of Time and he says. "Not me" and walks off. It's him. To a tee.

But we can't wait until November, which apparently is not and ugly month.

BTW the compatibility chart at the site Tuna found rates us a 2, "There is potential to this relationship and one sign is usually more tolerant of the other. There could also be a karmic link to this relationship. The 2 Vibration is also known as the semi-sextile." . ROFLOLPIP!

This is from Linda Goodman's "Love Signs" under the heading: Libra woman,Scorpio man "Wish them luck in their efforts to blend their vibes. It might be a blessing to us all that they fall in love. She can provide an idealistic outlet for his controlled but driving ambition, helping him guide it into channels that could bring justice to the planet's abused and weary souls. His deeper wisdom will check her airy indecisions, gently molding them into a sensible approach to her daydreams. Her logical mind will help him straighten out the complicated tangles of career, family, or personal involvements which are sooner or later faced, to some degree, by every Water Sign, even invincible Scorpio." " ... Their personal love has an excellent chance to expand outside themselves into a tremendous energy for all mankind and womankind..."

So please, for all of mankind and womankind, expand your energy, but warn us, as it might be mistaken for a Quickening.

Libra and Scorpio

When Libra and Scorpio come together, it can be a fulfilling and stimulating relationship both mentally and emotionally. Libra's balancing energy can counteract Scorpio's brooding disposition. If the pair can fuse Libra's exceptional interpersonal skills with Scorpio's determination and drive, they can reach amazing new heights together. Scorpio has more focus than Libra, and Libra can get the ball rolling in the direction both partners want. Libra and Scorpio are steadfast in their loyalty to one another.

This can be a very goal-oriented relationship. It tends to be both highly emotional and intellectual, thus making the bond multifaceted and deep. Scorpio tends to be more patient, but is also more controlling than Libra. But despite their differences, both partners love risk and taking chances; this is not a boring relationship! Libra and Scorpio can have lots of fun together, and both can be quite charming. At times they have difficulty understanding each other, because Libra is up front and open, while Scorpio is more mysterious. Both partners need to get together occasionally and decide on some common rules and boundaries.

Libra is ruled by the Planet Venus and Scorpio is dually ruled by the Planets Mars and Pluto. Libra's ability to articulate and love for beauty and romance balance the strife that can arise from the secretive and emotionally obtuse Scorpio. Mars represents passion, so Scorpio's energy fuels an active and exciting time together. Neither will want to argue; Libra doesn't enjoy conflict and Scorpio will seek secret revenge. It will usually be Libra who calls a truce and comes up with the solutions. Pluto adds an intense edge to this dynamic.

Libra is an Air Sign and Scorpio is a Water Sign. These two elements can be a great combination if they work together, using willpower and intellect to get things done. Scorpio is a strategist, and can help Libra slow down and learn how to test the water before diving into it. Libra teaches Scorpio to relax and cut their losses when their efforts are thwarted. However, Scorpio can be emotionally manipulative, too much Water watering down Libra's enthusiasm. Conversely, too much Air can hurl a riptide into the Water and drive Scorpio mad. Libra and Scorpio must plan and work together, rather than coming up with their own agendas to maintain the great sense of balance between them

Libra is a Cardinal Sign and Scorpio is a Fixed Sign. Libra brings a new idea to the relationship and Scorpio maintains it. Both require extreme focus and devotion in a relationship. Scorpio can lead Libra toward stabilizing and finishing things rather than jumping into new projects without completing the old ones. Both are loyal and devoted to each other, and when they can understand, they can enjoy a satisfying relationship -- Libra providing the reasoning and brain power, and Scorpio as the passionate, emotional force.

The best aspect of the Libra-Scorpio relationship is the power they find in unity. They can accomplish a lot, whether they come together for a cause in the business or romantic sphere. They are both winners and they won't give up, making theirs a relationship that takes care of business.

More on Libra and Scorpio

There is much sympathetic magnetism between these two signs. While Scorpio is the more dominant sign of the two, the Libran's beauty and sense of fair play appeal to Scorpios good judgment. Libra sees all the virtues that she admires in Scorpio, for Scorpio's sex drive is all Librans hope to be. There is much to recommend this union, for they have many sympathies in common. Librans are sentimental and susceptible as lovers. This seems to be appealing to Scorpio's dominant and possessive urges. As long as Libra does not hurt Scorpio's pride, Librans will find what they are looking for when they marry a Scorpio. There is a strong sexual attraction here, but Libra may find Scorpio's intense nature a bit overwhelming. Common goals and shared interests could avert any difficulties.

You'll never guess what he came up with.

Posted by Godiva (You've got to be kidding!) on Saturday, 27 December 1997, at 12:02 a.m.

I let him explore that site a little. This is what he, who of course is so honest and sees himself *SO* clearly, came up with:

Aquarius January 20 - February 18 (He likes this one because it's next and his birthday can be real fast. He also likes February because it has the word 'brewery' in it.) Aquarius is the eleventh Sign of the Zodiac. After the last three Signs learning about other people, Aquarius works with social institutions to make them work for people as they were meant to work. They are humanitarians and philanthropists, the visionaries of the Zodiac. Friendship is important to them, and they have many acquaintances in addition to their close friends. As the eleventh Sign, Aquarius also rules the eleventh House: the House of Friends.(Suffice to say "In a Pig's Eye". He says his friends are like 'brothers' to him.)

The Astrological Symbol of Aquarius is the Water Bearer. (He likes this. Methos hates water.) Like the Bearer bringing water to his people, this Sign brings new ideas to the world. (He says "I bred a new virus, didn't I?) It represents consciousness and the flowing of ideas, but they can also be impatient and temperamental with people who don't share their visions. (He says "not him.") They can be opinionated, and they work hard to bring their ideas to fruition, stubbornly refusing to give up their causes. In this way, Aquarius exemplifies the Fixed Quality assigned to it. They are independent and individualistic, within the world but detached from it. While they are peace-loving and friendly, (right!) they can also be cruel and tormenting of people who disagree with them. (He says "Never. Just ask Methos.")

Aquarius is ruled by the Planets Uranus and Saturn. In ancient Roman mythology, Saturn (and his Greek equivalent, Cronus) was the father of many Gods, including Zeus. (The Cronus part is what really caught his attention) Uranus was associated with the Earth, and he was the oldest god. In ancient times, Saturn ruled both Capricorn and Aquarius; Aquarius is the masculine, or day, aspect and Capricorn is the feminine, or night. Aquarius' ability to inflict torment on enemies comes from Saturn, while Capricorn is affected by Saturn's hardworking influence. When Uranus was discovered, astrologers assigned it as the modern ruler of Aquarius. It is from this Planet that Aquarians receive their visionary nature. Uranus is associated with progress and technology -- anything that is radical -- and it rules electricity and Astrology. (He says he always liked that abandoned power plant.) Some Aquarians have genius that borders on insanity,(OK I'll give you this one.) and their progressive ideas and association with anything that is different makes them different to Capricorn. Aquarians are inventors, unpredictable and unconventional, but they may also be inconsistent and erratic.

The Element associated with Aquarius is Air. Air Signs are intellectual:they tend to respond to the world through intellect, rather than physical action, practicality, or emotion. In Aquarians, intellect manifests itself in their fixed opinions and eagerness to share and discuss them. While people born under Aquarius are tolerant and broad-minded, they tend to stick to their beliefs. Their intellect makes them logical and self-confident, but it may also make them aloof from the people around them. They are original, offbeat, and even eccentric, but they are also rather bored by detail. Reformist and experimental, they may also seem cold toward people who don't share their intellectual orientation to life. (He wishes. No way, José)

Aquarians tend to have talent in a number of areas, both scientific and creative. They are unique and rebellious people, driven to change the world. (OK, I'll give you this one too.) They can sometimes be show-offs, but it's usually to draw attention to their causes rather than to themselves. Their freedom is important to them, and they are often driven to help others become free as well.

In their leisure time, people born under Aquarius are social animals. They greatly prefer team sports to solitary athletics, and they often have a fondness for baseball and tennis. (ROFLOLPIP!) In love relationships, Aquarius is flirtatious, not possessive or jealous. (Still on the floor!)

Aquarius rules the ankles. People born under Aquarius may be more susceptible to sprains than people of other Signs. Aquarius's colors are the colors of the Water they carry: turquoise, aqua, and silver. (Right. I can just see him in aqua overalls!)

The great strength of the Aquarius-born is in their visionary nature. They are the people who take the world to the next level;(Where as he just wants to take the world!) they make people look at things in a different way than before. Their ability to break the rules and move beyond what others think is possible makes them one of the most innovative characters of the Zodiac.

What Signs are Aquarius compatible with? With a Libra we would be the 5 Vibration. There is great respect and understanding to this relationship. You will understand each other and share similar motivations. The 5 vibration is also known as the trine. (Still on floor, Still laughing, Still peeing)

Like he knows himself so well. Is there an opening in Clan Denial for the guy with the leather blinders? The Aqua leather blinders? If I was wearing pants I'd still be peeing in them.

He's a Scorpio. No doubt. But he also can't wait until November for a birthday.

Well, November 13th was perfect. A whole month before Dunkie's. But unfortunately he wasn't going to wait that long. So we thought perhaps an Un-Birthday bash a bit earlier. The half-year mark would be April. Too far away, although he didn't object to the month. Apparently 'Ape-ril' is not an ugly month. But too far. March had a Friday the 13th but still a bit too far and he doesn't like March. An "ugly" month. He says he'd rather ride. Well, February also has a Friday the 13th. And he likes the 'brewery' part of February. So, the Un-Birthday party will be....Friday the 13th of February.
